This afternoon, the Muskegon Community College Board of Trustees approved the final piece of the puzzle to complete the last of the four new and renovated facilities included in the College’s Master Plan. Construction of the Arts Center, to be housed in the current Technology Building on Campus, is expected to begin this upcoming spring. As you may know, the occupants of the Technology building have moved or will move to the Sturrus Center downtown or will be housed in other spaces.  Specifically, the newly renovated space will be home to the College’s Art and Music Departments.  Plans also include a physical connection of the new Art Center to the existing Stevenson Center at or near the “security station” entrance to the Stevenson Center.

In addition to the Technology Building renovation, upgrades to the Overbrook Theater will take place along with a renovation of the existing Art Building into an Automotive Program Building.  Below is an example of one of the outstanding MCC groups to be housed in the new Arts Center, the West Michigan Concert Winds.  They and all of the fine student and community groups more than deserve this much needed support. Thank you to the Board of Trustees and all of those helping make this and the other projects a reality.
