ITT Tech Closure: MCC’s Response

Posted by on 09.15.16 in Community, Students, Vision

Good day friends and colleagues.

As you may know, on Tuesday September 13th, Muskegon Community College held an open house at the MCC Coopersville location for displaced ITT Technical Institute students. ITT closed its doors on September 6, leaving their students with few options. Vice Presidents Teresa Sturrus and John Selmon were and have been in contact with the Academic Dean at ITT to offer any help the College may provide to impacted students. ITT had five locations in Michigan, with the location in Grand Rapids being the closest.

Muskegon Community College faculty and staff have been very helpful in developing unique program plans to support affected ITT students. MCC was the first college in West Michigan to respond to this unanticipated situation.  Thank you to all MCC faculty and staff supporting this effort.  These are among the many reasons I am proud to be a member of the MCC community.
